Some of my favorite assignments
The same can be said for the Elevator Pitches, public speaking being the number one most common fear. Of course, these were recordings, so that made it a little easier. But I actually have to say that after my first or second Elevator Pitch was the most joyous moment in this class. The feedback I got was great, and a lot of you really seemed to like the name I came up with for my RPG, which was awesome. On that, I really enjoyed the feedback assignment, as otherwise I wouldn't have seen a lot of great ideas, nor would I have received a lot of great and useful comments on my work.
3) I'd say I am a lot closer to being an entrepreneur, if only because I understand the mindset a little better. Of course, I don't think one is really an entrepreneur until they've taken really concrete steps towards turning a concept into reality, which I in my stupidity have not. But that's my fault, not the class's, and I plan to take these steps as soon as I have a little more knowledge about how to run and manage a business.
But, the entrepreneurial mindset and the creative process of finding an opportunity and a solution is irreplaceable and was amazing to learn. It will be incredibly helpful once I get these other skills. I'm really looking forward to testing out this venture, and I hope it will be successful. If not, though, I know the tricks to find another opportunity.
4) My main recommendation to anyone taking this course would be to ask for feedback on specific things. Of course everyone is required to give feedback, but if you're worried about one part of your plan then ask for ideas on it, otherwise the people may give you the simple "you did great!" and not give you much to work on. This also is a great way to foster the entrepreneurial mindset, by asking for feedback on ideas. I got a lot of great ideas just by asking people "what would you want in an RPG?" Asking a bunch of people what they want out of your product is a great way to do market research.
How I'd suggest people succeed in this course is not to treat it like an easy credit, like I had started to at the beginning of this semester. Actually give it your attention, because it has a lot to offer!
